Monthly Accounting Services for Companies in Sofia — Plameli Finance
We keep your company's books month after month — processing documents, filing on time and keeping your accounts with the tax authority in order — and you get a named accountant who knows your business.
What monthly accounting actually covers
Ongoing accounting is the daily work behind an owner’s peace of mind: recording incoming and outgoing documents, keeping the accounts with the National Revenue Agency and the social security institute reconciled, preparing and filing returns on time, and maintaining reporting that shows the real state of the business. For a VAT-registered company, monthly VAT returns, purchase and sales ledgers and control of input VAT are added on top. We work on a monthly subscription because accounting is not a sequence of one-off jobs but a continuous process, in which a missed deadline costs more than the work itself.
A named accountant, not a shared inbox
Every client has a specific accountant who runs their company and knows what it does — not an anonymous address where a question sits for days. Our commitment is an answer within 24 hours. The subscription includes three hours of spoken consultation a month, so that the question “what happens if we do it this way” gets asked before the transaction rather than after it. Once a month you receive a short summary in your language: what was done, what amounts are coming due and what is needed from you, without the accounting jargon.
How we take the books over from your previous accountant
Changing accountants mid-year is normal and far more common than owners expect. We collect the documents and trial balances from the outgoing accountant, check which returns were filed and which liabilities were paid, and reconcile that against what the tax authority has on record. Where we find gaps — an unfiled return, an unrecorded document, a discrepancy in the balances — we say so immediately and propose how to correct it. The point of that review is not to assign blame but to take your business on from a clear starting position, so you do not inherit someone else’s problem.
What determines the monthly fee
The subscription price is set by three plain things: your line of business, the number of documents a month and whether you are VAT registered. Services, trade, manufacturing, construction and transport each require a different volume of accounting work and carry different risks, which is why they sit at different levels of the tariff. Document volume is the second factor — the published rates apply up to 100 documents a month, and above that the price steps up. VAT registration is the third: monthly returns and ledgers are a separate layer of work. All of this is written down as a table on the pricing page rather than left to be negotiated client by client.
What the subscription does not cover — said in advance
The monthly subscription covers ongoing accounting, but not everything. The annual closing is charged separately and costs one monthly fee for subscription clients. Payroll is a separate service too, with an annual fee and a price per employee. Consultation beyond three hours a month is charged at the published rate and delivered in writing. Documents beyond 100 a month, a statutory audit and the surcharge on monthly turnover above €250,000 also sit outside the subscription. We list this in advance for the same reason we publish the tariff: an unexpected invoice at year end damages a working relationship faster than any price does.
Accounting in four languages
We advise in Bulgarian, English, Ukrainian and Russian. For a foreign owner that means the difficult parts — the tax treatment of a transaction, a reply to the revenue agency, the difference between two ways of taking profit out — are explained in the language you make decisions in, rather than one where you are guessing at the meaning. If you are only starting a business in Bulgaria, see the company registration page as well; if you are hiring, see the payroll page.
How it works

A conversation and a look at where you stand
We establish your line of business, how many documents you handle a month and whether you are VAT registered, and together we place your company on the tariff.
-
02
Taking the books over
We collect the documents and trial balances from your previous accountant, check what has been filed and find the gaps before they turn into a problem.
-
03
Month-to-month accounting
Every month we process the documents, prepare and file the returns with the NRA and the social security institute, and send you a summary of what was done and what is due.
-
04
Year-end closing and planning ahead
At the end of the financial year we prepare the annual financial and tax statements and discuss what is worth arranging differently next year.

Questions and answers
- How much does monthly accounting cost?
- The subscription depends on your line of business, the number of documents a month and whether the company is VAT registered. The tariff starts at €100 a month for a self-employed person and at €115 for a company that is not VAT registered. The full table is published on the pricing page, with no hidden lines.
- Can I change accountants in the middle of the year?
- Yes, and it is a common situation. We collect the documents and trial balances from your previous accountant, check what has been filed and carry on from there. There is no need to wait for the year to end.
- How should I hand over the documents?
- Whichever way suits you — scanned or photographed electronically, or on paper at the office. What matters is that they arrive by the agreed day of the month, so there is time to process them before the filing deadlines.
- What happens if the tax authority sends a query or opens an audit?
- Representation before the NRA and the social security institute during queries and audits is included in the subscription. We prepare the requested schedules and answer on your behalf, keeping you informed at every step.
- Do you work with companies outside Sofia?
- Yes. We serve clients across the country — document exchange and communication are entirely electronic. The Sofia office is there for those who prefer to meet in person.
- What is not included in the subscription?
- The annual closing (one monthly fee), payroll for employees, consultation beyond three hours a month and documents beyond 100 a month. All of it is set out on the pricing page, so that year end brings no surprises.
